Language choice
It should be predictable for users to find and change language.
Today, language choice is handled differently across public sector websites. Both placement and the use of icons vary. For example, language choice may be shown with flags, a globe, or be difficult to find on the front page. This makes it less predictable for users to find and change language.
In autumn 2026, a cross-agency working group is exploring a shared pattern for language choice. Among other things, the working group is looking at placement and the use of text and icons.
